This series is devoted to original research in the field of European urban history from c. 1200 to c. 1800. It has its origins in a major interuniversity research program (1997-2017), funded by the Belgian federal scientific policy, which focused on the urban history of the historical Low Countries.
The series invites manuscripts (in English or French) on the urban phenomenon in all its diversity, addressing questions from the fields of economic, political, cultural, religious, social and gender history. Monographs and collective volumes highlighting comparative urban history are especially welcome, alongside innovative studies on a specific urban center.
