Dunamis is a peer-reviewed book series that explores early-modern multi- and inter-medial representations, studied in their context of production, circulation and reception. Besides conveying messages, these representations are studied as performing or exerting a force through precisely the combination of different media and through interaction with their contexts of reception. Representations are neither static nor fixed; as dynamic processes, they evolve and they clash with one another, ‘contending’ for cultural influence and political power. The series investigates the multivalent characteristics of this latent force, the factors that activate or intensify it, and what contributes to its enactment and its efficacy. We welcome richly illustrated monographs and edited volumes dedicated to a wide array of objects and corpora, covering the period from around 1400 to 1700, which take an interdisciplinary approach and an innovative theoretical stand.

    All volumes in this series are first screened by the Editors and then evaluated by an Editorial Board, strictly on academic grounds, based on reports prepared by referees who have been commissioned by virtue of their specialism in the appropriate field. The Board ensures that the screening is done independently and without conflicts of interest. The definitive texts supplied by authors are also subject to review by the Board before being approved for publication.
