Studies in Medieval Latin Iberia

The study of Medieval Latin literature and culture in the Iberian peninsula has grown continually in scope and importance since the mid-twentieth century. One of the scholars who most contributed to developing this domain of research was Manuel C. Díaz y Díaz (1924–2008). The present volume assembles a collection of studies of medieval Latin and literature in early medieval Spain deriving from an international conference held in Lisbon in October 2024, on the occasion of Díaz y Díaz’s centenary. Bringing together many of the most conspicuous names in the field who have a direct or indirect connection to Díaz y Díaz, it covers several of his main lines of enquiry with a fresh and updated look, supplemented with four essays on his methods and approaches.
