Environmental Histories of the North Atlantic World

This series focuses on the environmental history of the North Atlantic World (here defined as incorporating Northern Europe; Scandinavia; Britain and Ireland; the Faroe Islands; Iceland; Greenland, and the eastern seaboards of both Canada and the USA) between c.　500–c.　1900 ad. Contributions to the series draw upon inter-disciplinary research in order to explore historical, cultural and socio-economic developments within their wider environmental context. The series welcomes both monographs and edited collections that engage with a variety of different themes, included among them: climate-change; the discovery and settlement of New Worlds; resource exploitation in marine and terrestrial contexts; the discovery of new economic resources; intellectual and technological developments of the period; industrialization and urbanization; crises of supply; disease and health; and ecological imperialism.
