Architecture and the Arts in Early Modern Italy publishes substantive, peer-reviewed scholarship on the architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture, and related arts of Early Modern Italy. The book series takes an expansive view of Italy and the early modern period, encompassing not only studies of artists, patrons, monuments, sites, and subjects within contemporary Italy’s borders, but also in the Italic world beyond, including Venice’s stato da mar and the Genoese Crimea. Its chronological purview extends from the thirteenth through the seventeenth centuries. The series embraces a broad range of perspectives and formats: innovative and traditional subjects and analytical approaches; synchronic and diachronic studies; single-author monographs and well-focused multi-author anthologies. It showcases the vitality of early modern architectural discourse and highlights its fruitful connections with other fields.
