Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies / Études byzantines et post-byzantines (EBPB) is a peer-reviewed annual journal (ISSN 0259-0913) published under the auspices of the Romanian Society for Byzantine Studies. Since its foundation in 1979, the journal has served as a leading forum for innovative scholarship in Byzantine and post-Byzantine studies. Up to and including volume n.s. 7 (2025), EBPB is available in open access through the website of the Romanian Society for Byzantine Studies. Beginning with the next volume (n.s. 8, 2026), the journal will enter a new phase through publication on BrepolsOnline, combining a modern digital platform with a print edition. This transition will strengthen EBPB’s international visibility, enhance its accessibility to researchers worldwide, and ensure the broadest possible dissemination of its scholarly contributions.
Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies / Études byzantines et post-byzantines (EBPB) est une revue annuelle à comité de lecture (ISSN 0259-0913), publiée sous l’égide de la Société roumaine d’études byzantines. Depuis sa fondation en 1979, la revue constitue un forum de premier plan pour la recherche innovante dans les domaines des études byzantines et post-byzantines. Jusqu’au volume n.s. 7 (2025), EBPB est disponible en libre accès sur le site web de la Société roumaine d’études byzantines. À partir du volume suivant (n.s. 8, 2026), la revue entamera une nouvelle phase de son développement avec sa publication sur BrepolsOnline, associant une plateforme numérique moderne à une édition imprimée. Cette transition renforcera la visibilité internationale de la revue, améliorera son accessibilité auprès de la communauté scientifique mondiale et garantira la plus large diffusion possible de ses contributions académiques.

Peer review: double-blind undertaken by a specialist member of the Board or an external specialist
Each paper is first thoughtfully assessed by two specialist members of the editorial board. In the case of a desk rejection, the author(s) will be informed within one month of the submission date. Upon the positive assessment of the editorial board, the paper will undergo a double-blind peer review by external specialists, unaffiliated with author(s)’ institutions. The decision and feedback will be send to the author(s) within three months of the submission date. In the case of thematic volumes, the responsibility for ensuring the peer review of the articles belongs to the editor(s) of the volume.EBPB series-specific guidelines to be found at the website of the editorial board: https://srsb.ro/ebpb/
