Brepols mourns the passing of Professor Albert Derolez, the distinguished Belgian historian of the book and medievalist whose scholarship transformed the study of medieval manuscripts, book collections and intellectual culture. Internationally renowned for his lifelong research on the Liber Floridus and its author, Lambert of Saint-Omer, he was widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities on the medieval book and manuscript tradition.
