Brepols and the Centre for the Study of Medicine and the Body in the Renaissance (CSMBR), Pisa (Italy), are pleased to announce a new publishing partnership with the launch of Ars Longa: Texts and Traditions of Medicine from Antiquity to 1800. The series will provide an international forum for critical editions, translations, studies of manuscripts and primary sources, and monographs devoted to the history of medicine and related disciplines from Antiquity to the eighteenth century. Reflecting the shared commitment of Brepols and the CSMBR to rigorous scholarship and the enduring value of the humanities, Ars Longa seeks to foster research across the Greek, Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, Syriac, and vernacular traditions.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr Fabrizio Bigotti, Director of the CSMBR and Series Editor, said: "Ars Longa has long been a desideratum of both the Centre and myself. The launch of Ars Longa also coincides with the creation of a new Residential Fellowship in Digital Humanities at Brepols facilities in Turnhout, which beautifully complements our own “Studiolo Winter School”: Humanities for the Future Series. Together, these initiatives are intended to provide both a publishing venue and a scholarly home for researchers who share this approach and wish to contribute to a living tradition of research in the medical humanities."
