YLS seeks articles and notes that deal with Piers Plowman and related poetry and prose in the traditions of didactic and allegorical alliterative writing, or with the historical, religious, intellectual, codicological, and critical contexts of these works.
Authors should submit manuscripts electronically, in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or .rtf, to all of the editors. Where electronic submission is impracticable for authors, we gladly accept hard copy; in this case please send three copies to any one of the editors. As per Brepols policy, articles should conform to the Modern Humanities Research Association style guide (http://www.mhra.org.uk/Publications/Books/StyleGuide/download.shtml). Authors should also adhere to the journal-specific guidelines (http://www.piersplowman.org/yearbook/style.htm). Submissions should be prepared for double-blind peer-review, with all information in notes and headers that may identify the author removed.
Every article is first read by all three editors. Every article that is deemed acceptable for external review in this initial screening process is then double-blind peer reviewed by at least two specialists in the field, and read closely by at least one of the editors.
Accepted essays must in their final form be accompanied by a brief (60-150 word) abstract, to be published with the essay; a longer (250-400 word) abstract, for publication in the following volume's bibliography and in the online bibliography on this website; and ten keywords, also to be published with the essay.
All books for review should be sent to any of the editors.
