The ambition of the Corpus Christianorum is to create "a new Migne". It was planned by Dom Eligius Dekkers in 1945 with the belief that the editing of patristic and medieval Christian texts would have to be undertaken afresh and systematically in order to meet the standards set by research in the twentieth century. Three series were at first envisaged: Series Latina, Continuatio Mediaevalis, and the Series Graeca. From 1983 on, they were followed by the Lingua Patrum, the Autographa Medii Aevi and Hagiographies. Two series of lexicological works - the Instrumenta Lexicologica Latina Series A and the Instrumenta Lexicologica Latina Series B - will cover all the works published in the Latin series of the Corpus Christianorum. They are part of the Thesaurus Patrum Latinorum that can also contain works published in other collections. A series of handbooks, or claves, were created within the framework of Corpus Christianorum: the Clavis Patrum Latinorum, the Clavis Patrum Graecorum, the Clavis Apocryphorum Novi Testamenti, the Clavis Patristica Pseudepigraphorum Medii Aevi, the Clavis Scriptorum Latinorum Medii Aevi. Editorial responsibility: Editorial Board of Corpus Christianorum You can find an overview of the different Corpus Series below, but for more detailed information, please visit the Corpus Christianorum Website.
