The edition includes the first critical edition of this treatise, a small biographical-exegetical handbook about the main characters of the Old and New Testaments. The parallellisms of style and contents, the considerable and remarkable use of apocryphal literature and above all, the textual transmission lead the editor to conclude that the opuscule dates back to the end of the eigth century and comes from an Irish centre of learning on the Continent, possibly situated within the area of influence of the episcopal see of Salzburg. This volume is the first in the new sub-series Scriptores Celtigenae.
