Summary

Laon, Bibliothèque municipale, MS 468, was copied at Laon under the supervision of Laon's most important master, Martinus Hiberniensis (819-875). The manuscript was donated to the cathedral library by two subsequent Laon masters, Bernard (847-903) and Adelelm (c.a. 865-930). The manuscript's texts, most of which have not been studied or published, introduced students to the arts and to Latin literature. The selection and arrangement of the texts along with the many marginal notes which accompany them make this manuscript an important witness to Carolingian pedagogy.
