Summary

This selection of decisions of the Synods of the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches illustrates the richness and vitality of the various Orthodox Churches. The criteria employed are those of historical prominence and present-day relevance. The combination of these two elements considerably reduces the number of decrees which may be chosen, but still allows one to point out individual and unique characteristics of each type of synod.
