Summary

This work was written by an Arian bishop or priest during the second or third quarter of the fifth century and whose mother tongue was Latin. Nevertheless, he lived in a border area, where there was a great influence from the Greek culture (Illyricum, Dacia or Moesia).

The Opus imperfectum came down to us, because it was attributed to Chrysostom. This also explains the broad and amazingly complicated history of the transmission of this work, and that is the reason why a complete volume has been dedicated to describe about 200 witnesses of this text and to define their mutual relationships.
