This collection is a joint research programme of the Constantijn Huygens Institute, Den Haag, and the IRHT at Paris on the theme of The Faculty of Arts at the Medieval Universities (Paris and Oxford) . The content of study is intellectual mechanisms; that is, not academic institutions but the intellectual processes observable in the faculties of arts, and through which ways of thinking and of conceptualising the world were radically transformed in the scholastic period.
