All submissions are read by all of the Board members (the Editors). Submissions considered potentially suitable for publication are referred to one or more specialist external readers. Two or more external peer reviewers are used where a submission includes material in more than one specialist field and in other cases where the Editors consider it appropriate to seek several external perspectives.
For guest-edited special volumes the main readers of the contributions are the guest editors. The special-topic volumes may include a member of the Board (i.e. one of the Editors) as a "guest editor."
