The Marco Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, sponsors scholarly research on the history and culture of the period from roughly 300 to 1700 C.E. As an interdisciplinary center, the Marco Institute fosters investigations of art, architecture, history, literature, music, religions, and other aspects of society. This series highlights the diversity of cultures and the exchange of ideas in the pre-modern world through a variety of thematic perspectives on the period.
