ABOUT

This series is dedicated to the study, from a wide variety of angles, of late antique and medieval narrative in European and Levantine traditions. It encompasses all narrative genres (both spiritual and secular, both fictional and non-fictional; e.g. hagiography, historiography, biography, epic, romance, etc.) in a number of languages (Latin, Greek, Near Eastern languages, and western vernaculars) and aims to explore what happens to the forms and the nature of narrative and related concepts (such as fiction, narrative techniques, authorship, readership, genre, social functions of narrative, orality etc.) in these traditions. It accommodates a broad range of scholarship: literary studies (e.g. rhetorical, narratological, intertextual, etc.), reception studies, comparative, religious, historical and linguistic studies.

The series aims to publish monographs, edited volumes, and texts editions that include a study (e.g. a commentary, literary or otherwise, with an introduction).
